UPDATE: Lately I’ve been surfing the great world wide web with nary a flash flash plugin installed on my machine. I am now convinced my problems in the post below were largely or completely stemming from a lame Flash plugin. Go figure. Thanks for changing this for all of us, Steve.
I’ve had tons of issues with Safari, both version 3, and version 4 beta. I now have version 4 (final release), and I’m praying it’s better. I used to crash at least once or twice a day, often more. But please, Apple, in the meantime, give back the tabs on top. I like screen real estate, and you just took an extra 25 pixels off of my shortest side.
Now if I could just find a hidden pref I can hit via terminal…
ever thought of firefox? hmmmm. Never had a problem there 🙂
Looking beyond your friendly snub, I must say that I’m Surprised. I have many friends who have had the same problem with Firefox. The real culprit I see when I look at my crash logs is Flash Player, and as I said, I’ve seen many cases of it affecting both Firefox and Safari. That’s why I’m so hopeful.
Today Apple announced that Safari isolates the unruly flash plugin, and stops it from crashing the entire browser by simply the flash app for that page.
I really love many things about Safari (including the oh-so-much-faster-than-firefox-page-loading), but the crashing, I admit, has made me pissed. Of course, I’ve known for some time that it’s Flash, but I’ve fallen prey to the sentiment that it’s all Safari’s fault, since Safari is what I’m interacting with daily, not flash player.
This really should be a “Flash Player Plugin blows”, or a “Whiners That Hate Tabs in a Sensible Location Blow”, but I guess I let my emotions get the best of me…
***For those who are curious and want to check out your crash logs, look for something like this:

Never thought I’d see the day . . . Ron Adair has criticized Safari . . .
🙂
I’m just playin’. I’m excited to try Safari 4 and I hope its as good as its talked up to be.
So far I haven’t had a crash, but I’ve got a lot more tabs to open still today. 😉 I’m actually excited for FF 3.5, and Opera, as they both will support CSS3 spec, and Typekit. We’ll see if Typekit is all it’s cracked up to be…
